Distribution of School bags, educational books at LP School

Rotary Club Shillong Heritage undertook a project at Buddha Vidya Niketan LP School in response to a request from the Principal to support the educational needs of the students. As part of the initiative, school bags were distributed to the children of the LP section, and a collection of educational and story books was donated to the school library. The project aimed to enhance learning opportunities, encourage reading habits, and provide essential support to the young students, thereby contributing to their overall educational development.

Certificate given to 8 students who did the Computer course

As part of its commitment to Vocational Service and Women Empowerment, Rotary Club Shillong Heritage successfully conducted a two-month Computer Training Programme for eight young girls in collaboration with IIPS Shillong. The programme was aimed at equipping participants with essential computer skills that would enhance their confidence, employability, and ability to navigate an increasingly digital world. The training was conducted over a period of two months with the support and guidance of dedicated computer instructors. The participants received hands-on training in basic computer operations, including computer fundamentals, Microsoft Office applications, internet usage, email communication, and digital literacy skills. The course was designed to provide practical knowledge that could be applied in both educational and professional settings.

Mothers day Celebration at SOS village Community Service

Mothers day Celebration at SOS village

The members of RCSH visited the SOS village at Umiam and celebrated mothers day with 140 children and 17 mothers. The President of the club was called as the chief guest and to honour the mothers for their selfless sacrifice in looking after these children as their own. Warm shawls were given to each mother and 150 packets of food consisting of patties, cakes and juice were distributed to the children. It was a lovely afternoon spent with the children who sang and danced beautifully for everyone.

Donation of new born clothes and fresh fruits

The Nazareth Hospital maternity ward witnessed a heartwarming outreach project by Rotary Club Shillong Heritage focused on the well-being of both mothers and newborns. As part of the initiative, 50 newborn clothing sets consisting of baby T-shirts, socks, caps, and baby towels were distributed to the mothers of newborn babies admitted in the ward. To promote maternal health and nutrition, each mother was also handed a packet of healthy fruits containing apples and malta oranges. The project aimed at extending care, comfort, and support to mothers and their newborns during this special phase of life. The mothers expressed their gratitude and happiness for the thoughtful gesture. The initiative reflected Rotary Club Shillong Heritage?s continued commitment towards maternal and child health and its dedication to serving the community with compassion and care.

The WINS (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools) Project undertaken at Seng Khasi L.P. School, Mawiong, Diengpasoh on the 28th of February 26 by the Rotary Club of Shillong Heritage (RCSH) is a meaningful initiative aimed at promoting hygiene, health, and dignity among young students. The project focused on the installation of a dedicated handwashing station within the school premises, ensuring that children have access to clean water and proper facilities to wash their hands regularly. This initiative aligns with Rotary?s commitment to disease prevention and child welfare, as good hygiene practices significantly reduce the spread of infections and water-borne diseases. The DG innaugurated the new Hand wash area. Distric Secy was also present. The club members also distributed toys and a goodies bag of juice , buscuits, chocolates and gram to the students.

Extention and Renovation of Seng khasi LP school

On 28th February, the Rotary Club of Shillong Heritage marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of two meaningful projects at Seng Khasi L.P. School, Mawiong, Diengpasoh the Extension and Renovation of the school building and the WINS (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools) Handwashing Project. The projects were formally inaugurated by the District Governor, Rtn.Dr. K.S.Elangbam in the presence of District Secretary Rtn. Amit Sharma. The occasion was further dignified by members of the School Managing Committee, the President of Seng Khasi L.P. School, the President of Seng Khasi Diengpasoh, Rotarians of the club, parents, teachers, and enthusiastic students. The extension and renovation work has provided improved classroom facilities, creating a safer, brighter, and more conducive learning environment for the children. The upgraded infrastructure reflects Rotarys commitment to supporting education and investing in the future of young minds.

ANNAPURNA SCHEME AT GODS DREAM HOME , PYNTHORBAH

Annapurna Scheme – Pre-Christmas Food Support Drive As part of the Annapurna Scheme of Rotary, essential raw food materials including rice, dal, chicken, and five different kinds of vegetables were distributed to God’s Dream Home, Pynthorbah. The support was provided for 150 students, both girls and boys residing at the home. God’s Dream Home is run by a pastor if the church and his wife. The donated food items will be cooked and served to the children as part of a pre-Christmas celebration, spreading joy, nourishment, and the spirit of the festive season. This initiative reflects Rotary’s continued commitment to service, compassion, and community welfare, especially during times of celebration and sharing.

PRE-CHRISTMAS VISIT TO THE GIRLS HOME

A warm and joyful pre-Christmas program was held today at AW Thomas Girls Home, marked by fellowship, care, and celebration. Responding to the request of the Superintendent of the Girls Home, slippers were distributed to all the girls, ensuring comfort and meeting an important need. To add to the festive spirit, goodie bags filled with a variety of eatables were distributed to the girls as a pre-Christmas gesture of love and sharing. Boxes of sliced Christmas cakes were also presented, bringing smiles and cheer to the celebration. Many Rotarians were present, spending a meaningful morning with the girls and sharing in their happiness. The atmosphere was further brightened when the girls, aged up to 18 years, sang beautiful songs, making the celebration truly special and memorable. The program reflected the true spirit of Christmas—giving, togetherness, and joy—and left behind moments of warmth and happiness for everyone present.

On the joyful occasion of Childrens Day, the members of Rotary Club Shillong Heritage had the privilege of celebrating with the orphaned and homeless children at the Missionaries of Charity, Anand Bhavan on the 15th of November. It was a most befitting and meaningful way to honour this special day by sharing smiles, laughter, and heartfelt moments with the little ones who inspire us with their innocence, resilience, and hope. Our visit reminded us of the true spirit of Childrens Day: to cherish every child, to nurture their dreams, and to extend love and care where it is needed most. Through simple interactions, thoughtful gifts [ toiletries, diapers, sanitation kits, linen like bedsheets and towels and eatables, a baby cradle] and the time spent together, we hoped to bring a sense of joy and belonging to these young hearts.Rotary Club Shillong Heritage remains committed to supporting communities and spreading compassion.

A Career Counselling Programme was successfully organized for the Class 12 students of Seng Khasi Higher Secondary School and the 5th Semester students of Seng Khasi College by the Rotary Club of Shillong Heritage (RCSH) in collaboration with Admissions Indiaon the 5th of November 2025.The event aimed to guide students in identifying suitable career paths, higher education opportunities, and skill development options in line with their interests and abilities. DONATION OF ADULT DIAPERS AND TOILETRIES

As part of its ongoing commitment to serve the community and support vulnerable sections of society, Rotary Club Shillong Heritage undertook a meaningful donation drive to Shanti Bhavan Missionaries of Charity, a home that provides care and shelter to its inmates in Shillong. The club contributed over 1,000 adult diapers, 100 bars of soap, 80 large tubes of toothpaste, 80 toothbrushes, and 10 litres of phenyl to the home. These essential items were handed over to the Sisters of the Missionaries of Charity to help meet the daily needs of the residents. This initiative reflects Rotarys core value of Service Above Self and aims to bring comfort and dignity to the elderly and differently-abled individuals residing at Shanti Bhavan. Members of the club were present during the donation, interacting with the Sisters and offering their continued support to the noble work being carried out at the home.

Rotary club Shillong Heritage joined hands in a noble cause with BJYM, Meghalaya Users forum and Audio Tech to spread the message against drug abuse in a 9 km run.Drug abuse has become a rampant menance in the State and Rotary Club Shillong Heritage is strongly of the opinion that ... Rs.5/- Munch -1728 pieces were distributed and Rs10/- juices 120 pieces. "Fighting drugs and other addictions isnt just a personal battle..its a societal responsibility. Organizations must step up as active partners in prevention, support, and recovery, creating safe environments where healing is possible and stigma is left behind." To support this cause RCSH members participated in the 9 km Marathon and distributed energy bar chocolates to all the runners.

RCSH celebrated Independence Day with great patriotism and fervour. Members of the club visited Tagore Memorial LP School in Rynjah Shillong and hoisted the National flag along with the children of the School. The President along with the Principal of the school led the children in singing the National anthem and the national song. The President and the members distributed an umbrella each to all the children of the school to help them during this rainy season. Healthy Refreshments were also distributed to the children and the members of the club took part in the cultural program that was showcased by the children of the school. The Principal thanked the President and the members of the club for their continuous commitment towards the club.

Rotary Club Shillong Heritage observed its Maternal and Child Health month by visiting the Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre of Ganesh Das Hospital. Diapers for adults and children, sanitary pads, Toys for the Recreation as well as for the Rehabilitation therapy purpose for the children was distributed. Pamphlets in both khasi and English were distributed to the patients on Menstrual Hygiene and Breast feeding. The President of Rotary Club Shillong Heritage Rtn. G. Marnie Batkhar and chairperson of Maternal and Child Health Dr. Sangeeta Kar alongwith Secretary Rtn Pooja Banerjee and other members of the club were present. This was published in the local dailies Shillong Times and Meghalaya Guardian. Rotary Club Shillong Heritage observed its Maternal and Child Health month by visiting the Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre of Ganesh Das Hospital. 200 Diapers for adults and 450 new born diapers, 100 resuable sanitary pads- were sponsored by Rtn Dr. Sangeeta ,educational and fun toys sponsored by President 4 ROCKERS , 2 pc little rainbow stackers ,2 pc Humming bird Blocks ,2 pc Xylophone ,2pc Angle Blocks ,2pc educational Rings ,2 pc Mummamia Bead Maze ,2 pc Bowling Toys ,2 pc Counting Beads. Toiletry (Soap and Shampoo) And Piano fitness rack sponsored by Rtn. Dr. Kaveri Barthakur ,A Rack - , some soft toys and 50pc colourful balls - sponsored by Secretary.Pamphlets in both khasi and English were distributed to the patients on Menstrual Hygiene and Breast feeding. Tree Plantation drive in Pine Mount School

In a spirited initiative to promote environmental sustainability, the Rotary Club of Shillong Heritage (RCSH) organised in collaboration with Forest Department. The event brought together key community members, forest officials, educators, and students in a joint commitment to greener surroundings. 4-ways test was given to the Forest officer and the principal of Pine Mount School. The plantation was carried out under the government environmental campaign ?Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam??a nationwide drive encouraging individuals to plant a tree in the name of their mothers. A total of 76 saplings were planted during the drive, including species such as 36 saplings of Ligustrum Soh Paiat, 26 saplings of Camellia japonica, and 14 saplings of Jacaranda mimosifolia, all chosen for their ecological and aesthetic value.
